GEM detektor physics, multiplication avalanches

The GEM detectors begin to be widely used in various particle tracking applications. For instance, the ALICE TPC detector at the LHC accelerator at CERN is being upgraded in order to use a GEM based electron multiplication. Therefore, it is important to understand and optimize the parameters of GEMs, such as their intrinsic energy resolution. Our group came up with a number of laboratory measurements in order to characterize the one-electron multiplication and its response function. See, for instance: JINST11(2016)P10017 [arXiv:1605.06939], AHEP2016(2016)8561743 [arXiv:1602.01316].
