ALICE-TPC Upgrade

The ALICE is one of the largest experiment and device in CERN, which purpose is to analyse the early state of the universe. The TPC (which is a detector of this device) detects the various particle tracks. The ALICE collaboration plans to develop the TPC with GEM-technology after LS2 (Long shutdown 2). The Wigner takes part in this project with different measurements in a qualified clean room. We make the quality assurance of these so-called GEM foils which means we make optical and electronical tests, and we are looking for the exact formula between the diameters of the holes and the gain with a detector developed by Wigner.
